This trip was one of those spur-of-the-moment trips. We packed a change of clothes, gassed up the Suburban and
headed for Savannah after breakfast.  We called the Marriott Riverfront Hotel from the car, got a room
reserved for us, and took our time wandering down to the coast via the back roads.

In some ways, River Street seems to never change.  But then, when you slow down and look, it is all new.
Oh, the buildings and the river are basically the same but the activities that they support
-- from shopping, dinning, and sightseeing along the street to the cargo handling along the river --
are constantly in motion and changing.
